Dr. Sef is a graduate of Zagreb University School of Medicine where he has been awarded the Rector's award and received his PhD in Surgery.

Dr. Sef is a board-certified cardiac surgeon interested in coronary, valvular, aortic, minimally invasive and heart transplantation surgery.

He has completed training at the Magdalena Clinic for Cardiovascular Diseases, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the University Hospital Center Ljubljana, Department of Cardiac Surgery and Transplant Unit, Harefield Hospital, Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals. He also underwent EACTS Visiting Fellowship programme in John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford, UK) and James L. Cox Fellowship at the West Virginia University Heart & Vascular Institute (Morgantown, USA).

Dr. Sef is the author of many publications, and several book chapters, serves as editor and reviewer in various journals, and is actively involved in clinical research.
